Dynamic, anthemic, and bursting with color, Heavenmetal opens with a ponderous, reflective chorale that quickly evolves into an energetic, vibrant groove. A simple, central theme, introduced in the opening chorale, provides the foundation for the piece. From there, flourishing woodwinds, colorful and insistent percussion, and brass that is both regal and, at times, raucous, unfold intricate, fragmented variations on the theme, propelling the music toward a bold and triumphant conclusion.
